Save Trestles

People flooded in by the masses at today's final attempt to save trestles...enthusiastic surfers, know it all environmentalists, concerned Californians, prepared politicians, local heroes, heaps of men, gangs of women,  shirtless grommets with body paint,  toddlers with political messages, and even dogs with signs came to fight the good fight.  Trestles is one of the most coveted breaks in California, the US, and even the world; and it is at risk!  The wave is very important to our surf economy in Southern California. Not only is Trestles host to one of only twelve World Championship Tour contest stops and a breeding ground for some of the best surfing talent to come out of the US, it is an epicenter for our surf culture and holds a sacred place in surf history. Surfing aside, Trestles and the surrounding wilderness are home to many species of flora and fauna that will surely feel the impact of  construction for the proposed toll road.  Many pristine natural environments are at risk, including many surf breaks (Harry's in Baja is all ready gone) and year after year plants are being covered by pavement. This is not just about trestles, it is about the larger picture.  Think about it.
